Oats themselves do not contain gluten. However, it appears that there may be some proteins, or amino acid sequences, found in oats that are similar enough to those found in gluten to cause a reaction. The biggest issue may be contamination of oat products by wheat, rye or barley. There is the possibility for a small amount of these other grains to be present in the oat groats that we purchase and mill into Coach’s Oats cereal. Also, Coach’s Oats is not milled on gluten-free equipment; this can slightly increase the possibility of exposure. Sensitivity to gluten varies from person to person. We recommend that people with gluten sensitivities consult a health care professional for guidance when considering cereal-based foods.

The base of the mix is a unique whole grain flour that contains eight whole grains, including oats, white whole wheat, triticale, rye, barley, millet, buckwheat and brown rice. We added flax seed and our patented Coach’s Oats so it bursts with healthfulness and just the right texture.
All types of oatmeal start with groats, which are whole-grain oats, minus the inedible husks. To make steel-cut oatmeal, sometimes called Irish steel-cut oats, groats are cut into pieces with rotating steel blades. Cooking traditional steel cut oats usually takes 30 minutes or more.
Coach’s Oats is similar to steel-cut oats in its nutty texture, but instead of 30 minutes, Coach’s Oats cooks in only five minutes! This is possible because Coach’s Oats is prepared in an entirely new way. The groats are toasted to bring the natural sugars to the surface of the oat, and then cracked into small pieces. This patented Cracked n' Toasted™ process means that Coach’s Oats is never mushy, always naturally delicious and cooks in just five minutes.
Coach’s Oats and McCann’s Steel Cut Oatmeal both provide all the heart-health benefits of whole-grain oats. Both have a nutty texture that many prefer over rolled, or “old-fashioned” oatmeal. But unlike McCann’s Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal, Coach’s Oats cooks in only five minutes (steel cut oats generally take about 30 minutes). Coach’s Oats can also be cooked in the microwave and is great for baking, which are not as easy with Irish oatmeal.

Coach’s Oats cooks on the stovetop in just five minutes. It is also microwavable. (See cooking instructions.)
Our oats are 100% all-natural whole grain oats with no additives or additional ingredients. In addition, they meet the standards for OU Kosher designation. The oats used to make Coach’s Oats are not organic, but are grown in conventional fields.

1. Send to a commercial, rather than residential, address. This usually knocks $2 to $3 off, depending on the volume of your order.
2. Order higher volume. We’re not trying to sell you more oats, but the reality is the first two bags incur about 90% of the total shipping costs. Every bag thereafter raises the shipping only a little bit. Some of our customers combine orders with family, friends or neighbors to achieve the savings.
3. Check the cost of sending your package by U.S. Mail. You can compare the prices on our online shipping page. You also can call us to request the Priority Mail Flat Rate box, which might offer a savings.
Please keep in mind that we do not make money off the shipping; this is simply what the shipping company charges.
